Martin Markert

Martin Markert studied in Hamburg and Los Angeles. He played leading roles in Hair, City of Angels, Der bewegte Mann and Space Dream, the most successful musical in Switzerland. He performed the title role in Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar several times, as well as Joseph in the musical of the same name. He had great success as Tony in West Side Story. In the musical Ludwig² he appeared as Prince Otto of Bavaria, the Shadow Man and as the Bavarian fairy-tale king Ludwig II. With the original staging of Elisabeth – Das Musical he toured for a long time through Japan, China, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Germany, on stage as Death and as Crown Prince Rudolf. On the 20th-anniversary tour of the Broadway rock musical Rent he was seen as Benjamin Coffin III and in the lead role of Roger Davis. Martin was Uncle Fester in the Broadway musical The Addams Family. As a German singing dubbing voice he can be heard, among others, as Captain America in Marvel’s Hawkeye and as Quasimodo in Once Upon a Studio for Disney’s 100th anniversary. Alongside his stage work, Martin works as a casting director and is the artistic director and stage director of Ludwig² – Das Musical.
